As a K-12 educator for over 25 years and an adjunct professor of education for the past 7 years, I have never experienced such bitter dialogue around what we should be doing to provide for our school children. As President of the Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools and the Illinois Association of School Administrators, we worked with lawmakers to pass an evidence based funding model which – for the first time in our state’s history – provides more resources to those who need it most.
I believe there is no more important task for our society than protecting our children. I became a School Resource Officer because I felt a responsibility to keep kids safe.
Educating children to enhance future success takes all of us – working together to ensure that every child is afforded the opportunity to receive a quality education in a caring environment so that when our generation is gone – the next generation is better.
